NFront Password Filter [March-2022]
* nFront Password Filter is designed to enforce a suitable password policy for your network. An easy to use UI and an extensive configuration means that you can easily configure passwords and meet the security of your organisation with only a couple of clicks.
* nFront Password Filter was designed with efficiency in mind, not only can it enforce complex password policies quickly and easily but it also uses little memory and has no installation requirements.
* nFront Password Filter can be used to synchronise Windows passwords with a central vault, such as a remote Active Directory Service or Windows AD LDS.
* nFront Password Filter supports synchronisation with other systems, such as a non domain Windows server, your AS400, or UNIX, allowing Windows passwords to be kept completely in sync.
* When combined with a security group policy, nFront Password Filter can be used to protect your network. For example, a group policy for protected sites can grant users access to protected sites but only if their passwords meet a certain threshold.
* The password policy can be altered on the fly to suit the needs of your organisation.
* It uses a single GPO to enforce policy meaning the majority of user accounts can be synchronized in a few clicks.
* nFront Password Filter will never block special characters or characters that are otherwise excluded by your policy.
* It will never enforce a password length rule unless the policy specifically allows for that.
* It will never stop you from changing your password!
* nFront Password Filter will not disable remote access to a compromised computer. However, it will prevent your password from changing unless you log on to the server and change it. This will also prevent users from connecting to your compromised computer remotely by simply logging in using a new password.
* To allow you to change your password, nFront Password Filter will show users an alert prompting them to log on before their password expires.
* Instead of using secret questions, nFront Password Filter prompts you for a secret phrase when a password is being changed.
* nFront Password Filter can be used to enforce and protect applications that use passwords, such as Windows Terminal Server or Remote Desktop.
* Alternatively, it can be used to provide extra protection to websites and web applications.
* If you are unsure of which nFront Password Filter to use, the Free Version has a limited set of policies which, although free, still provides you with enough control to see how your organisation will react to password breaches.
* Using nFront Password Filter can help protect your servers by preventing

Thanks for the reply but I don’t understand all you say as I don’t know what a TSR is.
I don’t understand what you mean by «seemingly» a virus. What seems like a virus?
In general, what an «infection» is caused by a virus in the context of hacking
In the context of malware (badware)
In the context of email (spam)
In the context of malware (badware), I agree with what drsmith said – I didn’t know what was meant by infection, but spammers use malware or at least the learning of techniques to either send it themselves or develop workarounds.
In the context of spam, I think some virus protection programs are just getting too conservative and are not using the science that has been developed to identify and ban malware. Or at least not enough of them are using it. It’s like shooting fish in a barrel using the current tools that are being used.
